What is a VLAN and How to Create a VLAN

Don't forget to read the previous article, namely> Beginner Programming Guide.

For those of you who are IT workers in the Network field in Medium or Large companies, you will definitely use VLANs. VLANs are needed in Medium and Large Companies. Below we will discuss VLANs.

Virtual LAN or abbreviated as VLAN is a group of devices on one or more LANs that are configured (using management software) so that they can communicate. A VLAN is a small part of an IP network that is logically separated. VLANs allow multiple IP networks and small networks (subnets) to be on the same network. In order for computers to communicate on the same VLAN, each computer must have an IP address and a Subnet Mask that corresponds to that VLAN. Switches must be configured with VLANs and each port in the VLAN must be registered to the VLAN. A switch port configured with a single VLAN is known as an access port. A VLAN allows an administrator to create a group of devices that are logically connected to each other, with VLANs we can logically divide switch networks by function, department or project team.

VLANs provide convenience, flexibility, and at least costs incurred to build them. VLANs make large networks easier to manage because VLANs are able to centrally configure existing equipment in separate locations. With the ability of VLANs to perform centralized configuration, it is very beneficial for network management development.

With the advantages provided by VLANs, it is better for every LAN user to start switching to VLANs. VLAN, which is the development of LAN technology, has not changed much, but has been able to provide various additional services to network technology.

For how to practice VLAN work or create your own VLAN, we will later share it with the Video Tutorial. You can see it later in the VIDEO Menu on this JNM website.
